Photo Quality Guidelines

Drafting Your Memories with Precision and Care

To ensure your family photo is transformed into a stunning laser-engraved masterpiece, it’s essential that the photo you submit is of optimal quality. The better the input, the more beautifully we can capture the emotional depth and fine detail of your image on materials like wood, acrylic, or metal.

🔍 Image Resolution & Dimensions

For the highest fidelity engraving, we recommend submitting images with a minimum resolution of 3000 pixels on the shortest side. High-resolution images ensure we can reproduce intricate facial features, textures, and contrast with accuracy during the laser process. Low-res files (such as screenshots or compressed images) may lose important details and result in a blurry or flat engraving.

📱 Device Quality Matters

Images captured with recent smartphones or high-quality digital cameras produce significantly better outcomes. These devices offer greater clarity, color accuracy, and tonal range—making it easier for us to enhance your photo for the laser format. Older devices or webcam images often lack the sharpness needed for high-detail engraving.

🎯 Focus & Subject Clarity

Please ensure the primary subject of your photo—whether it’s a loved one, a pet, or a meaningful object—is clearly focused and not obstructed by motion blur or graininess. Even a technically high-resolution image can result in a poor engraving if the subject is out of focus or taken at too far a distance. Close, clear, and centered portraits work best.

💡 Lighting & Shadow Balance

Lighting makes a big difference. We recommend submitting photos with even, natural lighting—preferably taken in daylight or with soft indoor lighting. Harsh shadows, backlighting, or overexposure can wash out details or obscure important facial expressions. Likewise, dark, underexposed photos may cause loss of definition in the engraving process.

🛑 Avoid Image Distortion

To maintain the integrity of the engraving, please avoid uploading:

  • Photos with visible pixelation, heavy compression, or artifacting
  • Filters or overlays (e.g. from social media apps) that alter tone, color, or blur
  • Images with a blue, green, or unnatural tint
  • Scanned printouts or screenshots, which often lack detail and depth

🖌️ What We’ll Do

Once submitted, your image will be gently refined and optimized for engraving. We’ll crop, adjust contrast, and balance light for the specific material you’re ordering on. If your photo poses technical challenges that might impact quality, we’ll reach out to discuss options before we proceed.
